Rita, beloved wife of Paul for the last 38 years, mother, stepmother,
grandmother, step-grandmother, great grandmother, auntie and friend to
so many, passed away peacefully at Princess Margaret Hospital, Toronto
in the early morning of April 17th, 2019 at the age of 79 years, after a very
courageous battle with cancer.
Rita was born and raised in Combermere, Ontario, the youngest
daughter of Joe and Carmel Holly. She was predeceased by her parents,
brothers Thomas (Pat), Joe and John Andrew (Andy), her sister Margaret
Fowles, her infant son Stephen Mayhew, and her first husband, Kenny
Mayhew.
Mom to Greg (Elaine) Mayhew, Ann (Gary) Buller, and Mark Mayhew.
Step-mom to Sandra, Patti and Paul Harrington Jr. Beloved grandma
to Kenton and Kyle Mayhew, Chase and Dylan Buller, Adam and Liam
Mayhew, Amanda and Melissa Amos, Emily and Laura Whyte, Justin,
Brandon and Wesley Harrington and Jonathan Harrington (deceased in
childhood). Rita also had six great grandchildren.
Rita and Paul lived in Oshawa for over 30 years. They enjoyed travelling
and looked forward to hooking up to their ‘travel trailer’ to visit friends and
family – down east or wherever they were ‘inspired’ to go.
Funeral service was held in Oshawa April 22nd, and Rita was laid to rest
June 15th at Holy Canadian Martyrs Parish Cemetery in Combermere.
Rita will be greatly missed by friends,
family and all who knew her and loved her.
