Gordon Victor Robinson

June 11, 1928 ~ April 19, 2020

Gordon Victor Robinson passed away peacefully on Sunday 19th April at the Valley Manor in Barry’s Bay, Ontario at the age of 91. Gordon was born in St. Eustache, Quebec to Clarence and Harriet in 1928. He married Maureen Bowes in 1948 and together they raised two children. His career began with Bell Canada, first in Montreal, then Ottawa and finally in Pembroke where he retired in 1993. The family had many summer holidays in Barry’s Bay and Gordon and Maureen became permanent residents in the early 1980s.

Gordon was well known in the area for being an active member of the Church of the Epiphany, the Opeongo Senior Centre, Meals on Wheels and the Canadian Cancer Society. He drove many patients from the area to their treatments in Ottawa and back home. He was a member of the local branch of the fundraising team and took part in many of the Relay for Life walks in Pembroke. After suffering a stroke, Gordon became a resident of the Valley Manor, where he was visited by family and many friends.

He is survived by his son, Keith (Doreen), and his daughter Joanne (Colin), his three grandsons, Joshua, Jamie (Wendy) and Toby and his great granddaughter Charlotte.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the St. Francis Valley Healthcare Foundation or a charity of your choice would be greatly appreciated. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, there will be no visitation or funeral at this time. A celebration of Gordon’s life will take place when restrictions are lifted.
