Golfers brave rain for local hospital

Killaloe – Despite a very rainy day, the St. Francis Memorial Foundation held its ninth-annual golf tournament on August 30 to raise funds for much-needed hospital equipment.
Again, this year, 144 golfers participated in the fundraiser.  This year, the proceeds are going to the Family Helping Family Campaign. Since the golf tournament began back in 2004, the event has raised $120,600 excluding this year. The total amount raised this year was not available come press time. At one point in the tournament, everyone had to seek shelter from the downpour.
After around twenty minutes or so, the rain let up and everyone was able to finish his or her round of golf. Due to the heavy rains, the silent auction had to be cancelled, so after the great dinner, organizers held a live auction. Auctioneer Patrick Daly volunteered his time to help the cause. Next year’s tournament will mark ten years, so don’t forget to get signed up early.
