KILLALOE – On Friday, a mild November evening, about a hundred people gathered to witness the lighting of the Christmas tree at the Killaloe, Hagarty and Richards (KHR) township offices. The lighting of the Tree of Peace marked the first public gathering in the St. Francis Valley Healthcare Foundation (SFVHF) Christmas fundraising event.
At the beginning of the ceremony on the steps outside the office, KHR Mayor Janice Visneskie-Moore introduced the councillors before welcoming the attendees.
“This is our second year,” Visneskie-Moore said, “hopefully the municipality will continue with this tradition of gathering to kick off Christmas. We are going to light our Christmas tree.
“Then we will sing Christmas carols and just socialize.”
