Foundation asks MV council for funds for manor redevelopment

BARRY’S BAY – Representatives from the Valley Manor visited with Madawaska Valley Township council on the afternoon of January 22.

They were there to give an overview on redevelopment plans, as well as ask council for a three-year donation commitment. Money would go toward the new rebuild, located next to the hospital at the former Sherwood Public School site.

Toni Lavigne-Conway from the St. Francis Valley Healthcare Foundation led the presentation to council. The foundation is heading up the fundraising campaign for the new building.

“It’s really quite exciting and we are going to be a part of history so we are pretty excited about that,” Lavigne-Conway said.

The manor has been busy for the past two years, submitting all the planning material to the ministry for final approval. However, representatives are hopeful that the shovels will be in the ground sometime this year.
