Flood wreaks havoc to Valley roads

BARRY’S BAY – An emergency meeting was held on Easter Sunday in Madawaska Valley Township, as public works employees tried to get a handle on the flooding situation.

At 1 p.m. on April 21, MV staff provided an update on road conditions, and was reassured that roads were being monitored and repaired as issues arose.

“Two areas specifically were Paugh Lake Road and Wilno North Road,” CAO/Clerk Sue Klatt confirmed. “It was determined the Wilno North Road will require quick intervention.”

Council passed a motion to install a temporary portable metal bridge for Wilno North Road to ensure access for residents.

On Easter Monday, residents were concerned about the flooding along Dam Lake, and water levels were high at Crooked Slide Park.
