Feeling the Blitz

COMBERMERE – Everyone in attendance was feeling the Blitz this past Sunday.

The Combermere and Area Recreation Committee, along with the Madawaska Valley Fire Department, held their annual C.O. Blitz on August 3 to the delight of all who attended.

Cheryl Stanley, chair of the Combermere and Area Recreation Committee, indicated that the day came together so well as a result of about 30 volunteers who gave of their time and efforts.

During the afternoon there were a number of entertainers who took to the band stand, including Star Archer.

New this year was a cardboard and duct tape boat race which was organized by Steph Park.

Teams of up to four people had an hour to create their boats before being led through the streets and down to the beach by bagpipes.

Once they arrived at the beach, they took to the water and raced around the docks.

Prizes were given out to the teams for various categories including top speed, best costume and the most spectacular sinking.

Bikini Soul took home the prize for the top speed, while the most spectacular sinking was won by a team who called themselves M & R.
