Dennis Pecoskie wins Logger Sports Festival

ROUND LAKE The annual Logger Sports Festival attracted 12 competitors to Round Lake Centre on February 7.

Armed with chainsaws and protective gear, the men participated in a variety of logger games, including tree felling, log cutting, tea boil, and speed and cross cutting.

New this year was the pulp toss, which had loggers throw a heavy block of wood the furthest. Jason Dombroskie had the longest throw, with Frank Glofcheskie coming in second and Thomas Hartwick placing third.

In the crosscut competition, Jason and Chris Dombroskie took home first place. Jimmy and Shaun Jeffrey placed second and Jeremy and Xavier Hudder came in third.

When the final numbers were tallied, Dennis Pecoskie was named the overall winner of this year’s annual logger’s competition. Thomas Hartwick and Philip Kuiack placed second and third, respectively.
