BARRY’S BAY – Dignitaries gathered at St. John Bosco Catholic School on May 8 to celebrate the grand opening of the Kidz Kastle Children’s Centre.

Barry’s Bay has been without a licensed daycare for four and a half years, after Wise Owl Daycare in Sherwood closed.

Three years ago, the Renfrew County Catholic District School Board became the benefactor of provincial funding from the Early Years and Child Care Programs and Service Integration Branch of the Ministry of Education.

It allowed for the renovation of St. John Bosco Catholic School, to create the new Kidz Kastle daycare. Two new childcare rooms were created, including a toddler and a preschool room, which, in total, can accommodate 24 children.

The redesign led to the relocation of the kindergarten room, as well as many other renovations throughout the school.

Principal Julia Graydon welcomed everyone to the official gathering, and pointed out the various dignitaries in attendance, from school superintendents and trustees, to Killaloe Community Resource Centre (CRC) representatives.
