Council examines bids for library extension

KILLALOE – At the March 3 meeting of the council, Facilities and Asset Manager Dale Thompson gave councillors a report on the two proposals the Killaloe, Hagarty, and Richards Township (KHR) has received for its library extension project.

The two companies bidding on the work that is scheduled to take place this summer are Quality Homes and Renovation of Golden Lake and Zuracon Construction of Barry’s Bay.

The bids for the library extension had been opened at the previous meeting of the KHR council two weeks earlier.

Thompson said that after the bids had been opened by the council he met with the library board and reviewed the two proposals the township had received.

The original proposal for the project was for $245,000, to be financed largely from a Trillium grant. The budget included $25,000 in-kind from the township, with another $5,000 ear-marked for furniture and other items for the library.
