Council discusses future of Recreation and Community Development Coordinator position

BARRY’S BAY – The finance and administration committee for the Township of Madawaska Valley had a two-part discussion in regards to the Recreation and Community Development Coordinator position on August 31 during their meeting.

The first part was a report titled ‘Non-Conforming Rental Rates’ which was brought forward by Mayor Kim Love. In the report, two incidents were brought to the townships attention. The first was a rental agreement with a group to use the upstairs of the Paul J. Yakabuski Community Centre. The agreement saw the rental costing $30 for the renter. The normal rental rate is $30 per hour and the cost for this would be $960 including tax. The municipality rented this out for $240, which represented a loss of $720.
