Communities in Bloom hosts Pig Roast

BARRY’S BAY – Communities in Bloom put on a Pig Roast summer for the community on August 11.

The evening began at the Balmoral Hotel where h’ordeuvres were served. There was also a musical performance by Sky, the daughter of co-chair for Communities in Bloom Elser Lee Faith Archer.

Due to the rain, the dinner was then moved into the Opeongo Seniors Centre where nearly 70 people enjoyed some pig that had been cooking at the Railway Station Park that day. The Young at Heart Line Dancers also put on a show while those in attendance waited for food.

“I think it was a moderate success,” said Debbie Marshall, co-chair for Communities in Bloom. “For our Pig Roast I think we did all right. With every new event that comes out you can always learn from your mistakes.”
