Chief of staff announced at St. Francis

BARRY’S BAY – There is a new chief of staff and a new director of the emergency department at St. Francis Memorial Hospital.
Recently, the board of directors named Dr. Jason Malinowski as the chief of staff and Dr. Pil Joo as the director of emergency department.
Randy Penney is the president and chief executive officer at the Renfrew Victoria Hospital and St. Francis Memorial Hospital. Penney first credited Dr. Bruce Harris for his role as chief of staff over the years.
“Dr. Harris has done a fantastic job for us,” he said.
The position is board-appointed, Penney explained.
“It is our go-to person,” Penney explained. “It’s a real key position in the organization for us.”
The chief of staff assists with the planning and designing of programs and services. Dr. Malinowski will be chairing the medical advisory committee and assist with patient complaints or investigations.
While the position is open to all physicians, the board is looking for someone who is interested in the role and displays leadership.
“Dr. Malinowski certainly has provided that over the years,” Penney explained. “It was natural that he would fall into that position.”
It is the first time Malinowski has held the title of chief of staff.
