MAYNOOTH – The Municipality of Hastings Highlands will be the home to a new cannabis production company/brewery.

Hastings Highlands Mayor Vic Bodnar made the announcement at the February 20 regular council meeting.

“Aero-Pon Leaf has purchased the property in Hastings Highlands at the ‘Y’ road location and has plans to build a multi use facility for cannabis production,” Bodnar said. “The economic boost to the area will have far reaching benefits to the people of this community.”

He added that the municipality anticipates not only added revenue to associated industries in the area, but also employment for the people there.

“This is the start of a more intensive development planned for this area and we welcome more businesses to our thriving community,” he said.

A public meeting is slated for February 28 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. for residents to gather more information about the new development. The meeting will take place at the municipal building in Maynooth at Emond Hall.
