BARRY’S BAY – The Madawaska Valley Fire Department responded to a bush and shed on fire on the morning of August 24.

The fire, located at 3535A Old Barry’s Bay Road, ripped through two acres of bush, as well as a shed, which resulted in a $20,000 loss for the property owner.

Three trucks and 10 firefighters responded from the North Hall.

“Large clouds of black smoke could be seen as firefighters were responding to the scene,” Fire Chief Corwin Quade said. “Firefighters came upon a fully engulfed shed and the bush was also on fire. This took the department two hours and 3,500 gallons of water to extinguish the fire.”
