Brian Hollands

On Friday, March 6, 2020, Brian Hollands, loving husband to Joanne, father of Jennifer (Scott) and Jarret, Grandfather of AJ and Taylor died peacefully at age 72, with family and friends by his side at home in MV Hospice.

Born January 1, 1948 Brian was predeceased by his parents: Bud (Frank)
and Joyce (Phillips) Hollands. He is survived by his sister Susan (David) Hall and his brother Mark (Carole) Hollands. With a Bachelor’s degree from Sir Wilfred Laurier University and a Teaching Degree from OISE, he spent most of his teaching career in alternate settings, with special needs learners. He worked in partnership with Ben Hoffman in the counselling firm, Hoffman and Hollands. Brian finished his Career delivering Employee Assistance and Addiction counselling services.

Brian had a passion for music. He also loved to spend time at his cabin in Virginia where he and Joanne made many life long friends with whom they played endless hours of music. If asked why he loved it so much he would tell you “We believe in simple living. It’s the only life we know. All we need here is our freedom, and a place to call our own by the hills that I call
home.” The hills of Virginia were Brian’s second home. He was much loved not only by friends and family, but also by all who shared in the beautiful music that was his life.

In lieu of flowers the family will appreciate donations to the Madawaska Valley Healthcare Foundation in Brian’s memory. A celebration of his life and music will be held this summer. For now Brian would want you to remember, “There are two things you can count on, in this troubled world we face. Every season has an ending. Every person has a place.”
