Bohdan Aleksander Urbanowicz

February 26, 1926 – January 23, 2019

Peacefully at Woodhall Park Long Term Care
home in Brampton on Wednesday, January
23, 2019 with his family by his side at the age
of 92. Beloved husband of Halina Narcyza
Torbicki Urbanowicz of 64 years. Dear father of
Richard (Dee) Urbanowicz of Pelham and Anna
Urbanowicz of Orangeville. Cherished Dziadziu of
Christopher, Michael, Peter and Nicholas. Bohdan
will be greatly missed by other relatives and many
friends.
Born in Wilno, Poland he was the eldest son of the late Piotr and
Aleksandra Urbanowicz. He was predeceased by his sister Krystyna and
brother Marian.
Shortly after WWII the Urbanowicz family came to Canada to the town
of Dunnville and had farmed chickens and tomatoes. Bohdan met
Halina at the Royal Connaught Hotel in December 1954 and were
married 6 months later. They resided in Welland and Bohdan was
employed as a Certified Engineering Technologist with Union Carbide
for approximately 25 years. Special memories are held by many of
times spent up in Kaszuby and Blackfish Bay, where Bohdan and Halina
had resided after Bohdan retired from Union Carbide. Bohdan was an
avid golfer and also enjoyed boating, fishing, sailing, windsurfing and
chopping wood for the winter.
A Memorial Service will be held at St. Mary’s Church in Wilno, this
coming summer, date to be determined. .
Memorial donations to the Alzheimer Society of Canada would be
appreciated by the family.
A tree will be planted in memory of Bohdan in the Dods & McNair
Memorial Forest at the Island Lake Conservation Area, Orangeville. The
annual dedication service will be held on Sunday, September 8, 2019 at
2:30 p.m. Condolences may be offered to the family at
