BARRY’S BAY – The Paul J. Yakabuski Community Centre played host to characters like Pocahontas, Little Red Riding Hood, Winnie the Pooh, and Piglet, too.
On March 16, the Barry’s Bay Figure Eights the Best of Disney ice show at the arena. The end-of-season show featured local CANskate and STARskaters.
Organizer and president of the club, Janice Cybulskie, said the end-of-season show is a way for the skaters to demonstrate their new skills.
It is also the first time the club held a Disney on Ice-themed show. Skaters dressed up like popular characters and skated to movie theme songs.
Afterwards, awards were handed out to some of the most promising skaters.
Two CANskate Champion medals were awarded to participants who demonstrate the qualities that embody the spirit of a champion: commitment, perseverance, dedication, passion, triumph and talent.
Recipients included Charlie Stoppa and Nikola Vanderheyden.
