BARRY’S BAY – One of the highlights of the May long weekend included the always-popular Bay Day on May 19 which boasted of glorious weather this year.

This year saw over 60 classic, antique vehicles whose owners registered in front of Alfeskie’s, with people coming from as far away as Waterloo as well as many from the Petawawa and Pembroke area.

There were a total of seven prizes drawn in the car raffle, including four containers of chain saw oil from Benson Auto Parts, a car cleaning kit from NAPA, a lock from A.V. Locksmithing and a helmet from KamKeg.

The Fran Band entertained the crowd throughout the day with their music and songs of days gone by. Band members include Fran Pinkerton, Grant Fraser, Rock Quesnelle and Derek Tolhurst.

A vast number of vendors were on hand to offer up everything from lemonade, with funds going to cancer research, to clothing, baking and perserves.

Madawaska Valley for Community Living held a barbeque at the grounds of South of 60 Arts Centre. There were also many games available for the children outside the centre including a minnow race and ring toss. Or, children could have their nails or faces painted.

There was something for everyone this year including information on the upcoming Great Race, race car games, sidewalk sales and small business exhibits.
