Arts Night marks 25 years

BARRY’S BAY – Over its 25 years, Arts Night has meant many different things to many different people. Visual arts, music, woodworking and most recently culinary – it’s not the creations as much as their creators that have changed.
Artistic tools and technologies have come and gone since the event’s 1980s debut. But, the same cannot be said for the community that supports its youth culture year after year.
Arts Night’s 25th anniversary packed a full house at Madawaska Valley District High School (MVDHS) on the evening of May 30.
The night kicked off with a gallery showcasing student visual arts and woodworking, concluding with a concert.
Culinary students provided refreshments. Proceeds from cakes purchased and auctioned off benefited the school’s breakfast club.
Laura Anderson, MVDHS’ art teacher, has been with the school for more than 35 years.
Story continues in the June 5, 2013 issue of The Valley Gazette.
