A splashing good time on Lake Kamaniskeg

COMBERMERE- This year’s annual Kamaniskeg and Area Property Owners Association (KAPOA) regatta at Hinterland Beach was a great success. Spectators and competitors lined the beach for the popular civic weekend event that has been held every year since the early 1970s.

The weather over Lake Kamaniskeg was great for the day’s first event – sailboat racing. Sailors tacked and jibbed their way around the bright orange buoys, putting their expertise to the test in an effort to take advantage of the changing winds and bring home the trophy. Dave Minty was the winner of this event, completing the course first in his Laser sailboat.

The canoeing events took place throughout the day, with racers in the junior and senior categories making their way across the finish line using several different methods from standard paddling to using their hands only.

There was a lot of participation in the swimming races this year, and both junior and senior competitors gave it their all using a variety of swimming techniques. The younger kids got in on the action as well in the fiercely competitive noodle races.
