A sign of the times: MVDHS kicks off the school year strongly

BARRY’S BAY – MVDHS welcomed 18 new students this year in what Principal Dean Zadow described as “One of our biggest years of growth in a while.”

Two international students, one from Australia and one from Italy, are among the newly enrolled. These 18 new students will be joining the existing student body in a variety of events and activities planned throughout the year. The purpose of the, largely student lead, initiatives is to welcome people into a strong community that has plans for an even brighter future.

Link Leader Miles Thibault is involved in many school events and helps new students integrate into life at MVDHS . Many of the school events are organized by the Student Activities Council (SAC). There is a surprise element to some of the planned activities, and Thibault was careful to safeguard specific details so that students can receive the maximum benefit from the treats in store for them. The grade eleven is one of a team of students who help newcomers navigate their way through the school.

The Link Crew was originally intended to help grade nine students adjust to their new environment. With the influx of new students in other grades, the volunteers have been pressed into service to welcome students in the higher grades as well.
