A party for Sherwood Public School

BARRY’S BAY – What better way to say thanks for the memories than by having a party?

That’s what parent council thinks is best. On June 11, the committee is hosting a big send-off party at the school, and everyone – alumni and residents included– are invited.

Sherwood Public School is officially closing its doors at the end of this school year. The students will be relocating to their new school located in the walls of Madawaska Valley District High School come September.

While it’s not yet known what the property will be used for in the future, the upcoming party will be a time to reunite with former classmates and enjoy a family-friendly event.

Principal Steve Griffiths explained that the OPP, Madawaska Valley fire department and armed forces will be giving demonstrations at the event. There will be a minion mascot walking around for the kids, as well as games, a barbeque, music, balloon creations and even a baking contest.

The baking contest is open to everyone. Entrants are asked to contact the school to enter, and will make either butter tarts or cookies. There are some great prizes to win, Griffiths said.
