Irish Gathering dazzles Killaloe

KILLALOE – Irish eyes were smiling down on the sixth annual Irish Gathering festivities in Killaloe this past weekend. From August 17 to 19, visitors and locals alike descended onto Killaloe for the annual weekend event. On the evening of August 17, emcee Ambrose Mullen welcomed everyone to the opening ceremonies held at the Killaloe Station Park. While the skies looked threatening, it remained dry for the evening. “It was great for the farmers. That way, they’d have an excuse…to come in and enjoy this great afternoon,” Mullen joked. After going over the schedule of events, Mullen reminded the crowd to drop into Afelskie’s Shoes next door to see the heritage display. “They did excellent work there,” he said. Mullen thanked the sponsors of the event, including Joe Murray Memorial Golf Tournament, as well as Killaloe-Hagarty-Richards Township.
