EHL gets under way with wins for the Algonquin Thunderbirds and Calver Lumber

EGANVILLE  – The first games of the season in the Eganville Hockey League began on November 17 at the newly appointed Eganville Arena.

In the first game the Algonquin Thunderbirds beat Enright Tree Services 3-0. It took half the game for the first goal to be scored when Davin Parks found the net, Corey Potts being given the assist. The Thunderbirds then scored a second goal in the second period with a solo effort by Tom Serran.

In the third period the Thunderbirds scored the final goal of the game when Dave Beck passed to Chad Mullen who in turn found Jason Bailly who finished with the move with a goal.

In the second game of the evening, Killaloe Kings took on Calver Lumber.

This game started with the Kings looking the slightly better side. While both teams seemed tense, the Kings made some intelligent passes to clear the puck from their defensive zone. Some Calver Lumber players made some desperate swipes to get the puck away from danger.

Both sides had plenty of chances of scoring.
