MAYNOOTH – Councillor for Hastings Highlands, Bert Cannon has passed away at the age of 74.
Cannon, who was sitting on council as a representative of Bangor, Wicklow, and McLure Ward, was born and raised in that ward. He was one of 11 children and attended Maynooth Public School, North Hastings High School and St. Mary’s in Combermere as a child.
After finishing school, he worked at Bicroft Mines and General Motors for nine years. He also worked as a hoist man in mines in Northern Ontario with his home always being Maple Leaf.
