BARRY’S BAY – A new program is being introduced to acknowledge the everyday Guardian Angels at the Valley Manor.
A special ceremony was held on the morning of September 24 to launch the program, which was first introduced at St. Francis Memorial Hospital.
“This unique program will provide the patients, their families and friends with a meaningful way to express their gratitude for the care received at Valley Manor,” St. Francis Valley Healthcare Foundation Executive Director Toni Lavigne-Conway said to the crowd gathered at the manor. “We are all aware that the care provided here by the staff, care givers, and volunteers is extraordinary, compassionate and very efficient. We hear this from so many each and every day.”
In order to be named a Guardian Angel, a donation is made in the person’s honour. Money will go to the capital expenses, Lavigne-Conway said.
“Instead of guessing at what might be a meaningful gift for a care giver or volunteers, like flowers, treats, etc., the Guardian Angel program gives people an opportunity to give something that makes a lasting impact on something that is important to all of us… and in this case, that is the capital needs for Valley Manor,” she said.
