BARRY’S BAY –  Mayor David Shulist and Council Members of the Township of Madawaska Valley are pleased to announce that Craig Kelley will be the new Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) and Clerk for the corporation effective June 16, 2014.
Mr. Kelley brings several years of municipal experience to the job, featuring a keen understanding of economic and community development/planning, and municipal legislation.  Having previously been part of the senior management team in Madawaska Valley from 2005 to 2011, Mr. Kelley was most recently the Business Development Officer at the County of Renfrew, leading such collaborations as the award-winning “Ottawa Valley Wood” campaign.  During his tenure at Madawaska Valley, amongst other initiatives, Mr. Kelley oversaw the renewal of Radcliffe Hills Ski Area, spearheaded the rejuvenation of both the Barry’s Bay waterfront and Combermere playground areas, assisted the Wilno Heritage Society with the Opeongo Heritage Trail project, and successfully launched the long-term economic development strategy that is currently seeing renewed focus in the municipality.
“We are very happy to welcome Craig and his passion for the Madawaska Valley back to our municipal family.  After a comprehensive search for candidates who would be the right fit for our organization and our area, we are completely confident that we have made the correct decision.  Craig’s wonderful personality, professional demeanour and history with the Township of Madawaska Valley will greatly assist him in his endeavours as CAO. ” says Mayor Shulist, “We must also acknowledge and thank the staff who have stepped up during this period of transition.  Their assistance has been extraordinary – they are a great team.”
