KILLALOE – It was 10 days of reminiscing, reconnecting and of course, everything green.
People from all over the Valley and beyond flocked to Killaloe for An Irish Gathering, which started August 15.
It is the result of hard work from a committee, in conjunction with several community businesses, organizations and community members.
The inaugural event celebrated all things Irish, and had a variety of events to keep everyone entertained. There were golf tournaments, pubs, free concerts and fun for the kids all spread throughout the festivities.
Maria Mayville is the marketing coordinator for the Killaloe-Hagarty-Richards Township and said the event was one for the books.
“An Irish Gathering was a spectacular event for the village of Killaloe and the Township of Killaloe, Hagarty and Richards. All events were well attended and the spirit of the Irish people in the region was evident everywhere,” Mayville explained.
On Saturday, the week culminated with a huge parade. More than 30 floats entered and highlighted family pride. Some participating families included the Harringtons, O’Reillys, and Stacks. Other floats promoted businesses in the area that are owned and operated by people with Irish roots.
