KILLALOE – The snow did not damper the holiday cheer in Killaloe during their annual Santa Claus Parade.
The streets were lined with families from all over the area in hopes to catch a glimpse of Old St. Nick.
Children were scattered throughout the sidewalks and could be seen diving down in order to scoop up candy thrown from floats or windows of fire trucks.
Sheila Clarke and Wayne Hoffman sat astride their horses making their way through the parade.
Judges were amongst the crowd watching the floats and taking notes.
There was a total of 28 floats in the parade, plus two red coats on horseback. The prizes for the floats that placed were plaques, and the competition was steep.
The first place prize for the best overall float went to the MV Hospice Palliative Care, whose float was themed for the season with dancing snowmen and Christmas music playing.
Second place went to Dan’s Country Diner, which had a unique Christmas dinner as the theme.
Afelskie Shoes were dancing their way down the street, with giant shoes hanging over their shoulders. Country music was playing to suit the theme, as well as cowboy hats and boots as their attire.
