PALMER RAPIDS – The winter-blahs were nowhere to be found in Palmer Rapids during the annual winter carnival from January 18 to 22.

There was plenty of action going on around the Palmer Rapids Community Centre. It started on Wednesday with a bingo held by the Palmer Rapids and Area Lion’s Club.

On Thursday, 10 contestants participated in the Snow Queen Talent Show. They included Madison Marquardt, Eli Coish, Danielle Bellas, Logan Schutt, Silas Coish, Julia Gutz, Mya Stein, Hanna Phanenhour, Sydney Armstrong and Mitchel Whyte.

The kids showcased a variety of talents, ranging from joke-telling to piano-playing.
Friday the 20th was the main event. The opening ceremonies commenced at 6:30 p.m. with the singing of the national anthem by the Snow Queen/King contestants.

Brudenell-Lyndoch-Raglan Mayor Norm Lentz welcomed everyone to the event and thanked all of the volunteers for making the carnival happen.
“It goes a long ways to making things work,” he said.

Gwen Coish was the host of the Snow Queen/King event. When it came time to unveiling the winners, she congratulated everyone who entered.

Story continues in the January 26 issue of The Valley Gazette.
