50th Annual MV Lions Club Santa Claus Parade

BARRY’S BAY – At noon on November 21, 2015 residents of Barry’s Bay and surrounding area came out to the 50th Annual Santa Claus Parade, put on by the Madawaska Valley Lions Club.
From crowded sidewalks, hundred of families watched as the 20 floats made their way down Main Street to the Paul J. Yakabuski Community Centre. Local schools, businesses, organizations and community departments all participated with either a decorated float, festive signage or music.
After the parade, the families who were looking for a little more entertainment and one-on-one time with Santa Claus made their way to PJYCC. There, the kids had an opportunity to meet Santa Claus and make their Christmas gift requests known.
The afternoon also boasted of free hotdogs and drinks, Terry the Balloon Man and Junkyard Symphony, a musical and comedic variety show for the kids.
The MV Lions Club then announced the first, second and third place winners of the float contest. Sherwood Public School won the first-place spot, taking the $200 cash prize, while Algonquin East Animal Clinic and the Girl Guides won second and third place, respectively, both taking home a $100 cash prize.
Thank you to the MV Lions Club for kicking off the 2015 Christmas season! The afternoon was a huge success and much fun was had by all.
