St. John Bosco wins 2018 Partridge Run
BARRY’S BAY – The grounds of St. John Bosco Catholic School were bustling with kids from area schools taking part in the 2018 Partridge Run on October 4. Teacher and organizer Ronda Lundy, who has been involved with the run for 20 years, coordinated this year’s event. She waited at the finish line throughout the day, congratulating the runners as they completed the race. Elementary schools that attended the cross-country race included Bosco, Palmer Rapids Public School, Killaloe Public School, St. James, St. Andrew’s, Sherwood Public School, George Vanier and Whitney Public School. The run consists of a number of races throughout the day, ranging from 800-metre runs to a 3,000 metre race. At the end of the day, St. John Bosco came in first with 82 points. Points are calculated based on the number of students from each school who place first, second or third. The final race of the day pitted students in the 3,000 metre race. Roland Stein of Palmer Rapids came in first in the boys’ race, while Mark Baille of St. James placed second and Gavin Recoskie from Killaloe Public School came in third.
