LEVEQUE, Michael Louis
Michael Leveque, of Maple Leaf, passed away peacefully at the Lakeridge Health Centre in Oshawa, on Monday, October 3, 2016 at the age of 70, following a lengthy illness. Beloved husband of 42 years to Anne Leveque (Beanish). Loving father of Peter (Miranda) of Bowmanville and Michelle (Steve) of Courtice. Brother of Jerome Leveque (Gloria), Mary Reid (Carl), Anne Hickey (Tom), Joan Fitzgerald (Eddie). Predeceased by his parents Dennis and Loyola (Flynn) Leveque, sister Denise Stringer (Paul) and brother Lawrence Leveque. Brother-in-law of Phyllis (Bob) Liebregts, Louise Beanish, Elizabeth (Larry) Byers and Gerard (Janet) Beanish. Michael will be fondly remembered by many nieces, nephews and friends. Michael loved music and dancing, and was the founder of the group “Tara.” He loved the accordion. Michael worked more than 33 years at General Motors at the truck plant. He was on the Board of Directors of the Auto Workers Credit Union. He was also Councillor for the Municipality of Hastings Highlands and was Deputy Mayor. Michael’s family received relatives and friends at M.G. Daly Funeral Home (200 Old Hastings Road, Maynooth), on Friday, October 7, 2016, 2:00 - 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 - 9:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial took place at St. Ignatius Catholic Church, Maynooth, on Saturday, October 8, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. with Father Jim Beanish presiding. Interment followed at St. Ignatius Martyr Cemetery, Maynooth. As expressions of sympathy, donations to St. Francis Valley Healthcare Foundation, Q.H.C. North Hastings Hospital or the Canadian Lung Association would be appreciated by the family.
